Dispatches from way, way behind the lines in Switzerland
You may not find this terribly rewarding unless you're included here, so this is a good time for casual and random browsers to turn back before they get too caught up in the sweep and majesty of the proceedings and can't let go.
The forest above La Foirausaz
17 November 2013
We commence our promenade as far up the Route des Montagnes as our VW tank is likely to get us, on the Foirausaz pasture near the cistern (1337m) that used to be called L'Éparçillon on the maps but isn't anymore.
Joe and Kristin are coming over to check out some scientific monitoring gear that's been set up on the pasture.
And now off we go on our walk.
A beautiful sunny afternoon for a change
Down into a little combe at the foot of the forest the 'Bois de la Sauge'
The farm of La Foirausaz
Wait up!
An intricate samba step
We're leaving the pastures soon . . .
. . . and launching up into the forest for a while.
Whoa!
Bottomless pit
We'll go around it.
Brambly forest
Out onto a trail, above the Pré de St-Livres
Kristin and Joe persevere westward up the hill.
And persevere in persevering
And still persev~ . . .
We're topping out onto the ridge at about 1440m.
Wait up!
