Dwight Peck's personal website Prés
de Joux Bringing
in the New Year
You
may not find this terribly rewarding unless you're included here, so this is a
good time for casual and random browsers to turn back before they get too caught
up in the sweep and majesty of the proceedings and can't let go.
A
couple of rewarding walks in the Swiss Jura near the farm of Pré de Joux
Following
a wild New Year's Eve party in Arzier (Graham and Matthew, Katie, Yasmine, and Miriam) . . .
.
. . it's up bright and early for a walk past the farm of Prés de Joux,
1 January 2008.
The
farm sits on a cleared knoll at 1107 meters altitude above the village of Marchissy,
overlooking Lake Geneva (Lac Léman).
The
famous hiking path the Sentier du Coq passes the farm building on the far side,
but we're not going that way today.
Instead
we're going to the west to do a little bushwhacking in the forest called Sur les
Prés de Joux . . .
and
past the meadows of Les Fornets about 100m higher.
The
next day, in the same forest but bushwhacking to the north of the farm, some frosty
spikey things all over everything.
Very
delicate little spikey things they are.
All
over everything.
Passing
down by the farm at the end of the day, 2 January 2008, with the Sentier du Coq
trail sign
