Winter
2003-2004
wonderful
wintry fun in the country the neo-cons have so far overlooked
A short foggy walk around the Pré d'Aubonne
Another pleasant snowshoe walk to take a peek down still another great gouffre, 6 March 2004
You
may not find this terribly rewarding unless you're included here, so this is a
good time for casual and random browsers to turn back before they get too caught
up in the sweep and majesty of the proceedings and can't let go.
The farm of Pré d'Aubonne (1389m), just half a kilometre down the road from the Col du Marchairux
We're passing by on our way to see the Grande Baume again.
Now three or four hundred metres off to the east, and we hope we find it in the fog before it finds us.
Mind the step.
Note the rather thin-looking climber's rope tied round the tree; perhaps there's some hardy spelunker down there now.
If so, do be careful.
According to the sign, it's a long way down.
Much of the region is riddled with holes in the limestone forest floor, but this is one of the biggest.
Lots of little ones roundabout as well.
Mind the step.
Back around the far side of the farm
And it's time to go home.
