Dwight Peck's personal website Marlowe's
visit to Switzerland,
June 2003
Newly
graduated from high school, soon to be off to Uni, Marlowe visits the Old Dad
in Switzerland.
You
may not find this terribly rewarding unless you're included here, so this is a
good time for casual and random browsers to turn back before they get too caught
up in the sweep and majesty of the proceedings and can't let go.
Marlowe
pulls into beautiful downtown Bassins, June 2003, drops the luggage in the front
hall, and gets pressed into service by the neighborhood kids (Matthew, Yasmine,
and Katie).
Marlowe
and friend Lisa dash over the top of Mont Sala, in the canton of Vaud.
Vaudoise
cows in full stampede, lumbering their ungainly way down into the Combe des Begnines.
Lisa
and Marlowe pass a horrifying "gouffre", or very deep hole in the earth,
near Mont Pelé.
Marlowe
poses next to a Jura ant hill that's taller than she is.
Beautiful
downtown Morges on Lake Geneva -- a quick trip to see the military museum in the
castle.
Pretty inspiring, that was!
Marlowe
waiting for her computer to complete its calculations and tell her whether she's
won the game, or not. Or rather, not yet.
Marlowe's
won the game, and inquires about getting out and about for a while now.

Here's
the Crêt de la Neuve (note the Christian symbol on top),
and

And
the drapeau de la Suisse in all its glory.
Now
Marlowe goes back to paint a lot of her mom's house in Pennsylvania and then get
on up there to Ottawa to find a flat, furnish it, and get settled in at University.
